Prof. Dr. Ina Habermann

Full Professor of English Literature since the Renaissance

Ina Habermann has been Professor of English since September 2007. Her main fields of interest include Shakespeare and the early modern period, literature and film in the interwar period as well as Irish literature, cultural and literary history and theory and gender studies. She is the author of Staging Slander and Gender in Early Modern England (Ashgate 2003) and of Englishness as a Symbolic Form – Identity, Myth and Memory in 1930s and 1940s English Literature and Film (2007). Her current research projects deal with literary negotiations of silence and with the cultural and ideological implications of Shakespeare studies in the early twentieth century.Ina Habermann studied English in Frankfurt, Exeter and Munich and was a member of the Munich graduate school Geschlechterdifferenz & Literatur. From 1998 to 2007, she worked as a lecturer in English and cultural studies at the University of Erlangen, Germany.
